Brian Eno Urges Support to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project seeks to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it fails to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“It occupies a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the performance was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The song blends a fusion of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the campaign have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the region was noted for its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
