Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
